OLIVE PRESS HOTEL
Molyvos (or Mithymna), located at the northern tip of Lesvos (Lesbos) island in Greece, is considered one of the island’s most beautiful villages. Its picturesque harbor is dominated by a castle, with tiers of red-tiled stone houses climbing the slopes from the blue sea. At night, the illuminated castle transforms the town into a romantic setting.
The town has strong ties to the arts. Myth has it that the head of Orpheus washed ashore here after his dismemberment by Thracian women. Another mythical resident of Mithymna was the lyric poet and musician Arion, said to have been saved by a music-loving dolphin.
Molyvos has retained its traditional character, with numerous manor houses, stone-paved lanes, and an old flea market overgrown with fragrant plants that provide shade in summer. The locals are hospitable and helpful.
Here, on the beachfront of the EU Blue Flag-awarded Main Beach (recognized for its clear waters), stands the iconic Olive Press Hotel. This former oil mill, with its distinctive tall chimney, has been converted into a hotel.
The comfortable and spacious rooms, arranged around an inner stone-paved courtyard, feature a private bathroom, toilet, telephone, music system, and air conditioning. The independent studios and apartments also include a refrigerator and kitchen.
The hotel offers a popular restaurant (known for its quality and prices), a bar, a cafeteria, a beach bar (a lively daytime spot), a swimming pool, water sports, and other modern facilities for a fantastic holiday on Lesvos.
